old Danish farm, has been the island's arts-and-crafts center. This tropical compound

displayed here—originals in oils, watercolors, and acrylics. The Tillett prints on fine

Dockside Bookshop If you need a beach read, head for this well-stocked store
near the cruise-ship dock. It has the best selection of books on island lore, as well as

Carson Company Antiques This shop's small space is loaded with merchan-
dise, tasteless and otherwise, from virtually everywhere. Its clutter and eclectic
nature just might be part of the attraction. Bakelite jewelry is cheap and cheerful, and

Boolchand's This is the place to go when you're in the market for a camera.
Famous throughout the Caribbean, this is the major retailer of not only cameras, but
also electronics and digital products throughout the West Indies. Now into its 8th
decade, it sells all the big names, from Kodak to Leica, and from Nikon to Fuji. In
the electronics division are the latest in DVDs, minidiscs, and other items. There is

New Age Photo Don't expect a traditional array of camera and film at this
place—it's a lot more evolved than that. For sale is a medley of ornaments—made
from black onyx, granite, cut crystal, or clear plastic polymers—which accept lasered-
on replicas of any photo you'd present to a staff member. Photos come out looking
like fine art when laser-engraved on their new surface. Here, you can create some

Fresh Produce This California chain, with its tropical apparel for women, has
now invaded St. Thomas with its colorful wares. Much of the clothing is dyed like
