Paris to Rouen Capital Trips
Five days should be just enough time to delve into the delights of the City
of Lights and add on a few days' sightseeing beyond the capital, includ-
ing visits to Versailles, Monet's gardens at Giverny and the elegant city
of Rouen.

Every French adventure simply has to begin in Paris. With a couple of days you
should be able to squeeze in the Eiffel Tower , Notre Dame and the Louvre , plus
a river cruise along the Seine and a stroll around Montmartre . Base yourself on
the Left Bank to be near the main sights.

Day three takes you to Louis XIV's country retreat at Versailles . Connoisseurs
claim this is the grandest château of them all, and it's hard to disagree. Guided
tours take in the château's main rooms, including the royal apartments and the in-
credible Hall of Mirrors . Leave time for a leisurely wander among the fountains
and gardens.

On day four, catch the train from Paris to Claude Monet's house and gardens in
Giverny. It's where the artist painted some of his most famous canvases. Whatever
you do, don't miss the photo opp on the Japanese bridge . At the nearby Musée
des Impressionismes , the work of American impressionists takes centre stage.
