In a country blessed with countless natural beauty spots, the Gorges du Verdon (

longest in Europe - snakes for 25km through the Provençal countryside, and in
places the sheer cliff walls tower 700m overhead. By far the best way to explore is
with a paddle - there are lots of local companies that hire out equipment and ar-
range guided canoe and kayak trips.
