Monet's Garden at Giverny
Claude Monet purchased this idyllic Norman country house (

) in 1883,
and spent the next thirty-odd years redesigning its gardens and grounds: adding
trees, greenhouses, ornamental ponds and - most famously of all - a supremely
graceful Japanese bridge. Don't be surprised if it looks rather familiar. Giverny's
grounds provided the inspiration for some of Monet's most-famous (and priceless)
works, most notably his iconic
Nymphéas
(Water Lily) series.
