Croix Rousse has become very 'bo-bo' in recent years, with lots of expensive,
molecular cuisine places and so on. But you really can't go wrong at

priced, excellent Lyonnais food in a genuine Croix Rousse atmosphere. If you
like your meat raw, order the steak tartare, but be warned - it's not for the faint-
hearted!

On your way up to Croix Rousse or on your way down, follow the
traboules
(secret underground passages). A trip back in time, they take you through the
famous secret passageways built through the city's buildings by local 19th-cen-
tury silk-weavers to avoid the long windy roads when transporting their silk.
