Grotte de Lascaux
In 1940 four teenage boys out searching for their lost dog discovered the Grotte de
Lascaux ( Click here ), a vast network of subterranean chambers adorned with the
most extraordinary prehistoric paintings ever found. Though the original cave is now
off-limits to avoid damaging these priceless ancient artworks, they have been metic-
ulously recreated in another cave nearby. If you're going to visit only one cave in
the Vézère, make sure it's this one.
