4 THE RUTTING SEASON
Chambord is unique in that it is a monument in the middle of a vast forested
park. This gives Chambord an additional magic, a place to discover the natural
environment as well as culture and history. The park is a wildlife reserve with
stags and wild boars. Observatories allow visitors to observe the animals during
le brame, the rutting or mating season that falls from mid-September to mid-
October. The best time to see the animals in action is at sunrise or sunset -
bring binoculars.
