seum hides a prized collection of medieval stone statues, late 15th-century prints by
Martin Schongauer and an ensemble of Upper Rhine Primitives.
The star attraction, though, is the late-Gothic Rétable d'Issenheim (Issenheim
Altarpiece).

was born, this museum pays homage to the sculptor who captured the spirit of a
nation with his Statue of Liberty.
A 12m-high replica of the statue can be seen on the route de Strasbourg (N83),
3km north of the old town.
