GETTING AROUND
» Budget flights Fly from the UK to Dinard, Brest and Nantes.
» Ferries The main ports for cross-channel ferries are Roscoff, St-Malo and Cher-
bourg, although some ferries sail to Le Havre, Dieppe and Ouistreham (Caen).
» Trains & Buses Trains serve major towns, but you'll be stuck with buses to the
smaller villages.
» Car Gives you maximum freedom, although be prepared for traffic jams and in-
comprehensible one-way systems in the big cities.
» Organised minibus tours These are an excellent way to visit the D-Day
beaches. Book through the Bayeux tourist office.
