RER (Réseau Express Régional), a network of suburban lines, designated A to E
and then numbered, that pass through the city centre.
Each metro train is known by the name of its terminus.
The same RATP tickets are valid on the metro, RER (for travel within the city lim-
its), buses, trams and the Montmartre funicular. A single ticket - white in colour and
called un ticket t+ - costs €1.60 (half-price for children aged four to nine years) and
a carnet of 10 is €11.60 (no carnets for kids).
TOURIST PASSES
The Mobilis card coupon allows unlimited travel for one day in two to six zones
(€5.60 to €15.90; €4.55 to €13.70 for children aged four to 11 years). Buy it at any
metro, RER or SNCF station in the region.
The Paris Visite pass covers unlimited travel (including to/from airports) and dis-
counted entry to certain museums and activities. The version covering one to three
zones costs €8.80/14.40/19.60/28.30 for one/two/three/five days. Children four to
11 years pay half-price.
