One of the 'in' hotels of the moment, the inimitable
black-clad Amour (formerly a love hotel by the hour) features original design and
artwork in each of the rooms and is very much worthy of the hype - you won't find a
more original place to lay your head in Paris at these prices. Of course, you have to
be willing to forgo television (none), but who needs TV when you're in love?

An 18th-century mansion hidden down a private alleyway,

bijou
(jewel) sparkles from every angle. Much more than an exclusive hotel,
staying here is the equivalent of staying in a modern art collector's personal resid-
ence. It hosts rotating exhibitions from around the world, and has five imaginative
suites designed by top French artists (Philippe Mayaux, Natacha Lesueur), and a
lush garden landscaped by Louis Benech of Jardin des Tuileries fame.

'At the Old
Lady's', a favourite little restaurant south of Bourse, dining is on two floors but don't
expect a slot on the more rustic ground floor; that's reserved for regulars.
