5.30-8pm, to 1pm Apr-Sep) This is the workshop of Rafael Varo, one of a handful of
dedicated craftsmen reviving the lost art of guadamecíes. This is a technique inven-
ted in Córdoba during the 13th century for curing leather so that intricate designs
can be painted, engraved or inlaid on it. Pieces start at around €200.

Getting There & Away
Bus
The bus station (Glorieta de las Tres Culturas) is 1km northwest of Plaza de las
Tendillas, behind the train station. Destinations include Seville (€10.36, 1¾ hours,
six daily), Granada (€12.52, 2½ hours, seven daily), Málaga (€12.75, 2¾ hours, five
daily) and Baeza (€10, three hours, one daily).
Train
Córdoba's train station (Avenida de América) is on the high-speed AVE line
between Madrid and Seville. Rail destinations include Seville (€10.60 to €32.10, 40
to 90 minutes, 23 or more daily), Madrid (€52 to €66.30, 1¾ to 6¼ hours, 23 or
more daily), Málaga (€21 to €39.60, one hour to 2½ hours, nine daily), Barcelona
(€59.40 to €133, 10½ hours, four daily) and Jaén (€11.45, 1½ hours, one daily). For
Granada (€34.30, four hours), change at Bobadilla.
