El Rocío & the Parque Nacional de Doñana
With sandy streets and bejewelled church, hoof prints, hitching posts and hat-clad
honchos, El Rocío ( Click here ) is like something out of a Clint Eastwood film. You
might be forgiven for thinking you'd found the most exotic place in Spain, but that
honour goes to the Parque Nacional de Doñana surrounding El Rocío. Here, flocks
of flamingos tinge the skies pink, herds of deer and boar flit between the trees and
the Iberian lynx, the world's rarest big cat, slinks ever closer to extinction.
