Since 2006 Seville has instituted multiple clean-up measures including an electric
tram, a comprehensive bike-borrowing system, a new underground metro train line
(with three more in the offing) and the pedestrianisation of several arterial city-
centre streets. Noise levels have dropped, pollution has plummeted, important his-
toric buildings (including the cathedral) are free of grime, and people have switched
from using cars to public transportation or bikes.
