In-Depth Information
The 'Queen's Dressing Room' is like a bridge between the Islamic and Christian
periods of the Alhambra. As such, it's an outstanding example of cultural syn-
thesis, where the beautiful decorative art of the Renaissance occupies the heart
of an earlier Nasrid tower. It also serves as one of the Alhambra's open windows
with sweeping views out onto the world beyond the palace.
5 THE SPIRIT OF THE AGE
Two corners of the Alhambra in particular give a powerful sense of what it was
like to live here. The base of the Torre de la Vela conserves that spirit perfectly,
while the baths are unique in enabling you to understand the social, cultural and
religious practices that gave meaning to life in Al-Andalus.
