Moneo. The tour transports visitors from the initial museum on Plaza del Ayuntami-
ento, via escalators and an underground passage beneath the ruined cathedral, to
the magnificent, recently restored Roman theatre dating from the 1st century BC.
The tour and layout of the museum is designed to reflect Cartagena's fascinating
layers of urban history and includes Roman statues and artefacts excavated from
the site, as well as the cathedral's crypt and the remains of an original Moorish
dwelling.
