Isla de Tabarca
A trip to Tabarca, around 20km south of Alicante as the seagull flies, makes for a
pleasant day trip - as much for the boat ride itself as for the island, which heaves
with tourists in summer. Pack your towel and face mask. Most of the waters that lap
this small island, 1800m long and 400m wide at its broadest point, are protected
and no-go areas. But fish don't understand such boundaries and you'll enjoy some
great underwater viewing in permitted areas.
