Don't Miss List
BY MANUEL TOHARIA, SCIENTIFIC DIRECTOR OF THE CIUDAD DE LAS ARTES Y LAS CIENCIAS IN VALENCIA
1 WALK BENEATH THE OCEAN
Even if you wouldn't normally visit an aquarium, you can't miss the Oceano-
gràfic. The most memorable experience is the 30m-long transparent tunnel
through a world of giant crabs, massive sharks and more sea creatures than you
imagined possible. Take it slowly and, at some point, stand still to be swept along
by this world in motion.
2 THE CHROMOSOME FOREST
On the third floor of the Museo de las Ciencias (Science Museum), the Bosque
de Cromosomas (Chromosome Forest) is dedicated to 'Life and the Genome'
and is filled with more than 150 interactive modules that include giant chromo-
somes, genes, plants and animals, and human models. Genetics has never
been this much fun.
3 IMAX
In the IMAX theatre in the Hemisfèric (planetarium), make sure you try for a seat
in one of the upper rows. From here, vertigo is almost guaranteed, but the pro-
jections are so powerful that you'll soon lose yourself to the extent that you're no
longer a spectator but an integral part of the show itself.
