Madrid for Children
Madrid has plenty to keep the little ones entertained. A good place to start is Casa de
Campo ( Batán) , where there are swimming pools, the Zoo Aquarium de Madrid and
the Parque de Atracciones, which has a 'Zona Infantil' with sedate rides for the really
young. To get to Casa de Campo, take the teleférico, one of the world's most horizontal
cable cars, which putters for 2.5km out from the slopes of La Rosaleda.
Another possibility is Faunia ( www.faunia.es , in Spanish; Avenida de las Comunidades 28;
adult/under 12yr €24.90/19.10; hours vary; Valdebernardo) , a modern animal
theme park with an 'Amazon jungle' and 'Polar Ecosystem'.

Other possibilities include seeing Real Madrid play at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu

Bus
Estación Sur de Autobuses ( 91 468 42 00; www.estaciondeautobuses.com , in
Spanish; Calle de Méndez Álvaro 83; Méndez Álvaro) , just south of the M30 ring
road, is the city's principal bus station. It serves most destinations to the south and
many in other parts of the country. Most bus companies have a ticket office here,
even if their buses depart from elsewhere.
Car & Motorcycle
The city is surrounded by two main ring roads, the outermost M-40 and the inner
M-30; there are also two additional partial ring roads, the M-45 and the more-distant
M-50. The R-5 and R-3 are part of a series of toll roads built to ease traffic jams.
