Madrid & Central Spain
No city on earth is more alive than Madrid. This beguiling place has a sheer energy
that carries a simple message: this city knows how to live. In recent years Madrid
has transformed itself into Spain's premier style centre and its calling cards are
many: astonishing art galleries, relentless nightlife, an exceptional live music scene,
a feast of fine restaurants and tapas bars, and a population that's mastered the art of
the good life.
Away from the capital, the endless horizons of Central Spain's thinly populated high
meseta (plateau) are where you'll find some of Spain's most engaging towns.
Renaissance Salamanca, lovely little Segovia, and Toledo and Cáceres are places
where history seems written on every stone. These areas will give you a real insight
into the soul of Spain.
