After drilling the four counterbore holes, use their centerpoints and drill a single 1/4” hole into the
counterbore holes and through the other side of the wood. (The drilling operation will typically leave a
small dimple or mark that you can use to find the center of the hole again.) Remember to place a piece of
scrap wood underneath Part M to prevent your drill bits from breaking through the plywood and
damaging the smooth back surface.
Drill the remaining holes as described in the building plans. The large center hole has a diameter of
1-1/2” and can be drilled easily with a Forstner bit all the way through Part M. The four small remaining
holes are each 1/4” diameter and are drilled completely through Part M as well. These four 1/4" holes
will be used to fasten the motor flange to this piece. The motor flange specification is NEMA 23. Figure 6-
12 shows Part M completed with all the holes drilled, including the four counterbore holes.
