In-Depth Information
Do you have to label the parts? Of course not. But a little organization early in the process will make
it easier for you to find what you need later.
Tip Want to find a part's sheet faster? Affix a sticky note with the sheet's part letter along the right edge of each
sheet and stagger the sticky notes like a Rolodex. Then you can easily thumb to the proper sheet when you begin
working on a specific part.
Head to the Discussion Forums
We have done our best to check and double-check things like dimensions, part counts, drill depths, and
more. But mistakes are possible. We want to make certain that readers who choose to build the 3D
printer have the most current information on the project, but a printed topic poses difficulty if an error is
found.
As mentioned, in order to provide readers with the most current information on the 3D printer,
we're providing an Errata page as well as a forum section dedicated to the topic ( www.buildyourtools.
com ). Post your questions, share photos of your 3D printer build, and visit with other readers and
builders.
Summary
We want the building your own 3D printer to be fun, safe, and as uncomplicated as possible. In the
upcoming chapters, we'll show you the steps you need to follow to build your own machine. We won't
skimp on the figures (photos, screen captures, etc.) or the details of the tasks you'll need to perform.
We've offered some advice in this chapter and we'll continue to offer more in the topic's remaining
chapters. But if we can offer a final bit of advice, it is this: don't let this project overwhelm you. The
machine you're going to build has been built by others; you can do it, too. Take your time. Walk away if
you get frustrated. Use the topic's discussion forum to ask questions if you get stumped or need some
advice.
You can do this. Enjoy the project, but don't hesitate to step back and ask for help when you need it.
Now let's get started!
