The Software
You're almost done! In this chapter, you'll learn where to find the required software to make your 3D
printer work, as well as how to install and use that software. There are also a couple of tasks that you'll
perform to get the motherboard and Extruder controller ready to operate. We're close, so let's jump right
in and get ready to print.
Required Hardware Summary
For Chapter 19, you will need the following components:
A USB cable to connect your laptop or computer to the motherboard and Extruder
controller
A laptop or computer with an Internet connection
Download Required Software
You'll need several software packages to drive your 3D printer. ReplicatorG is the key bit of software.
That's the program that takes design files and converts them into instructions to the machine you've just
built. ReplicatorG depends upon several other packages. The following is the complete list of what you'll
be downloading:
ReplicatorG
Java, required by ReplicatorG
Python, also required by ReplicatorG
Configuration files that define your 3D printer to the ReplicatorG software
