In-Depth Information
The first thing to do is switch the 6-wire data cables connecting the X- and Y-axis motor drivers to
the motherboard. If you left enough slack in the data wires, you should be able to simply unplug them
from the motherboard and switch their positions. Now the motor under the table is plugged into the Y-
axis data port on the motherboard and one of the motor drivers mounted near the top of the machine
(the one with its wires connected to the motor controlling left-to-right movement) is plugged into the X-
axis data port.
All we can say is… sorry about that. (This late in the game, it was simply impossible to go back and
rename components, change conventions in every chapter, etc.) When we discovered this issue, we
simply chose to move forward knowing that in the end, all that would be required would be a few wiring
exchanges.
So, now that you've exchanged the data cables for the X and Y axes, you can connect the cables for
the endstops. Take one of the cables and connect it to the end-stop mounted just above the table (now
called the Y-axis). Connect the other end of this cable to the motherboard where it's labeled “Y Min” (Y
Minimum); this is shown in Figure 18-27.
Figure 18-27. Connect each endstop to the motherboard using the endstop cables.
