Summary
The list of tools you will need isn't long, but what we've listed in this chapter as the best choices will
certainly make your job a little easier if you have access to them or can rent them. If you're a bit
concerned because you lack access to some or all of the recommended tools, rest assured that you can
cut and drill the parts needed for the 3D printer with the basic tools (such as a circular saw and jigsaw).
The key is to measure and mark accurately and to take your time with the cuts and drilling.
In the upcoming chapters, we'll walk you through the cutting of each part and explain where you
need to be cautious. We'll point out the key measurements and try to make it as easy as possible to
duplicate our work.
Our intent with this topic is to provide you with as much detail as we can on every step of the
process. Cutting and drilling the parts will take some time, so don't rush it . Take your time. Check the
building instructions often. And, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to consult the topic's forum
discussion and post a question (or read what others have posted—you may find your question already
answered). You can find the topic's forum at www.buildyourtools.com. Register, log in, and look for the
“Build Your Own 3D Printer” discussion section.
