A jigsaw is useful for cutting into a corner and removing wood a bit at a time. Scroll saws typically
run between $50 and $200 and rental companies tend to rent them out at $25 per day. This is one of
those tools where buying may be better than renting, however, especially if you plan on taking more
than one day to cut out all the parts.
If you don't have access to a scroll saw, there is another option we can recommend, but it can be
tedious. A coping saw (Figure 2-8) will allow you to make ninety degree cuts over multiple passes, but it
is time-consuming and tiring.
