When to Dine
In Barcelona, and elsewhere in Spain, meal times run late. Most restaurants don't open for
dinner until 8.30pm or 9pm and close at midnight or 1am; peak dining time is around 10pm.
Locals commonly have lunch between 1pm and 4pm. This is then followed by a nice long si-
esta (a loll on the beach or in one of the parks is a fine choice when the weather is pleasant).
Locals aren't big on breakfast - a croissant and a cortado (espresso with milk) is a typical
way to start the day.
