Eye-candy bartenders know their stuff when it comes to mixing, shaking and/or stirring their
way to your heart with a fine selection of cocktails in this chilled lounge in the heart of the
Gaixample action. It makes a perfect start to the evening, or a nice way to finish off if club-
bing is not on the night's agenda.

A summer seat on the corner terrace of this wide-open bar attracts a lot of lads hopping the
area's gay bars in the course of an evening. Inside, metallic horse-saddle stools are lined up
at the bar and high tables, the music drifts through modes of dance and trance, and waiters
whip up drinks from behind a couple of candelabras on the bar.

Step back a century in this cafe, in business since 1873. The wooden bar extends down the
right side as you enter, fronted by a slew of marble-topped tables and dark timber chairs. It
exudes an almost melancholy air by day but gets busy at night.

Passeig de Gràcia)
This intimate basement relic of the 1960s follows a deceptively simple formula: chilled jazz
music in the background, minimal lighting from an assortment of flea-market lamps and a
cosy, cramped scattering of red velvet-backed lounges around tiny dark tables.
