At this charming little cafe-theatre, which has a certain scuffed elegance, all sorts of odd
stuff, from concerts and theatre to magic shows, is staged. The speciality, though, is stand-
up comedy, which is occasionally in English. Check the website for details.

Just off La Rambla, this 19th-century theatre was resurrected at the end of the 1990s and is
one of the city's key stages for quality drama. It usually fills up for a broad range of interest-
ing plays, often classics with a contemporary flavour, in Catalan and Spanish.

El Ravel boasts a handful of art galleries around MACBA, along with a bur-
geoning second-hand and vintage clothes scene on Carrer de la Riera Baixa.
Carrer dels Tallers is one of the city's main music strips.

It's a sign of the times that such a chic little temple to soap and perfume can exist in the
Raval. Les Topettes' collection has been picked for design as much as the product within,
and you'll find gorgeously packaged scents, candles and unguents from Diptyque, Cowshed
and L'Artisan Parfumeur, among others.

Bread lovers, rejoice! Good bread can be hard to find in Barcelona, but Reykjavik saves the
day. All loaves are made using organic flour - spelt, wholemeal, mixed cereals and so on -
and sourdough yeast, though this does make for fairly high prices. The bakery also produces
excellent cakes. Two more shops can be found in the Born and Gràcia.
