In-Depth Information
Hamburger lovers will have much to sample in Montana and Wyoming.
You'll also see the standard fast-food establishments, especially near the interstates, but
avoid these and try a local restaurant instead. You'll find the best food at the most random
of places—and it will certainly be a more culinary and cultural experience. And remember,
folks out here are friendly—if you stop and ask someone about the best place in town, they
will happily point you in the right direction and will probably know the owner.
If you are traveling the back roads and small towns and get tired of ordinary bar-type
food (burgers, burgers, and more burgers), consider a quest to find the best chicken-fried
steak or the best piece of pie. Sometimes a personal challenge can relieve the boredom of
limited options. Plus, who doesn't want an excuse to eat homemade pie for breakfast, lunch,
and dinner?
CANADIAN CROSSINGS AND CUSTOMS
Of the many roads that cross into Canada from Montana, only three border crossings are
open 24 hours, year-round. U.S. Highway 93 (Roosville) and I-15 (Sweetgrass) are the
busiest, while the remote crossing near Raymond on Highway 16 sees much less traffic.
