Consider an all-wheel-drive vehicle even if you travel only during the summer, as many of
the region's most scenic roads are gravel. In addition to better traction, these vehicles typ-
ically offer higher clearance.
In Wyoming, commercial flights are available to and from Casper, Cheyenne, Cody, Gil-
lette, Jackson, Laramie, Riverton, Rock Springs, Sheridan, and Worland. Jackson has the
best service, with jet flights from Atlanta, Denver, Salt Lake City, Dallas, Houston, Chica-
go, Minneapolis, Newark, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Some flights only operate dur-
ing peak times in the winter and summer, and many people choose to fly into Salt Lake City
(275 miles) or Idaho Falls (90 miles) and pick up a rental car for the scenic drive to Jack-
