could no longer manage the expense of keeping them locked up, they were released
on their own recognizance. The Texas gunmen fled home, and those from Wyom-
ing quickly slipped under the radar. Due to the difficulty and expense involved, the

FOOD
A great but tiny spot for breakfast, lunch, and sensational homemade pies, among other
specialties, is Lula Belle's Café (101 N. Gillette Ave., 307/682-9798, 5am-3pm Mon.-Sat.,
6am-2pm Sun., $5-12). Another popular spot for lunch and dinner is Humphrey's Bar &
Grill (408 W. Juniper Ln., 307/682-0100, www.humphard.net , 11am-10pm Mon.-Thurs.,
11am-11pm Fri.-Sat., 10am-9pm Sun., $9-23), which has an enormous menu and more than
50 beers on tap. After a significant expansion, The Prime Rib Restaurant and Wine Cel-
lar (1205 S. Douglas Hwy., 307/682-2944, www.primeribgillette.com , 11am-10pm Mon.-
Thurs., 11am-10:30pm Fri., 4pm-10:30pm Sat., 4pm-9:30pm Sun., $13-36) is a nice place
for lunch or dinner, and a perfect choice for wine lovers.
Newer on the scene, but well worth a visit, is Jordans (2721 S. Douglas Hwy., 307/

years working in the White House during George W. Bush's administration. It's a beauti-
fully executed product, from the architecture to the meals. Try the wood-grilled artichoke,
the lobster corn dogs, the hand-pressed bison burger, or the bison flat iron.
The best and by far the best-known restaurant in Gillette is The Chophouse (113 S. Gil-
lette Ave., 307/682-6805, www.gillettechophouse.com , 11am-3pm and 5pm-10pm Mon.-

of steaks, seafood, pasta, and Italian specialties. This restaurant has a serious following for
good reason.
