City.
Buffalo Bill Scenic Byway
The shorter of two routes to Yellowstone, this one to the east entrance, the 52-mile Buffalo
Bill Scenic Byway winds through the rugged North Fork Canyon along the Shoshone River.
President Theodore Roosevelt was among its admirers, calling the road the most beautiful
50 miles in the United States.
From Cody, head west on U.S. Highway 20/14/16. The road ends at the east entrance to
Yellowstone.
ENTERTAINMENT AND EVENTS
Nightlife
Although drinking while driving was only outlawed in Wyoming in 2002, drive-through li-
quor stores are still a surprise to many visitors. People often take their parties to go. For
traditionalists who like to have a drink in a more stationary location, Cody offers plenty
of great bars. Among them are the historic Irma (1192 Sheridan Ave., 800/745-4762,
11am-2am daily) and the Silver Dollar Bar (1313 Sheridan Ave., 307/527-7666), which
often has live country music and serves food.
For family-oriented nightlife, try Dan Miller's Cowboy Music Revue (1171 Sheridan
Ave., 307/272-7855, www.cowboymusicrevue.com , 8pm Mon.-Sat. May-Sept., $15 pp),
which features a night of music, comedy, and poetry.

July 6-Aug. 31, $18 adults, $8 children 7-12, free for children under 7) is held nightly in
summer at the rodeo grounds except July 1-5 during the Cody Stampede. Running every
summer since 1939, the rodeo is two hours filled with daring cowboys and cowgirls looking
to make a name for themselves on the circuit. Gates open at 7pm, and the action begins at
8pm.
The town's rodeo fever hits its high over the Fourth of July during the annual Buffalo
Bill Cody Stampede Rodeo (519 Yellowstone Ave., 307/587-5155,
www.codystampederodeo.com , grandstand seats $16-24). The stampede has been running
