The nearest public campgrounds to Thermopolis are 17 miles south of town in Boysen

River Canyon. Though barren by every definition, the reservoir is beautiful and offers great
swimming and colorful rock hounding.

Widely considered the best restaurant in town and open daily in summer for lunch and

Thurs., 5pm-9pm Fri.-Sat., from $9) offers everything from homemade soups and salads to
burgers, steaks, and seafood. Their specialty dish is Jäger-schnitzel.
For a speedy and delicious meal almost any time of day, Thermopolis Café (109 S. 6th
St., 307/864-3686, 6am-2pm Tues.-Wed., 6am-2pm and 5-8pm Thurs.-Sat.) is a great bet.
They offer breakfast all day, super speedy service, and hearty and delicious items ranging
from sandwiches to burgers and beyond.
No matter where you fill your belly in Thermopolis, always save room for an ice-cold
treat from Dairyland (510 Park St., 307/864-2757, 11am-7pm daily Apr.-Sept.), which
serves delicious frozen yogurt and ice cream the old-fashioned way. They offer burgers and
fries too, but it is the ice cream that brings people back again and again.
