ACCOMMODATIONS
With its history of attracting visitors to its medicinal waters, Thermopolis has quite a large,
if not necessarily diverse, number of accommodations.
The snazziest hotel by far is the M Best Western Plaza Hotel (116 E. Park St., 307/
864-2939, www.bestwesternwyoming.com , $91-121), a historic hotel in Hot Springs State
Park. It's the only hotel in town where pets are not permitted, but it is by far the nicest hotel.
Right across the street in this beautiful parklike setting is the pet-friendly Days Inn
Thermopolis (115 E. Park St., 307/864-3131, www.daysinn.com , $85-199). Hunters will
flip for the vast number and types of taxidermied mounts throughout the property, and the
hunting photos that line the walls. Vegetarians, however, may want to reconsider a meal at
the hotel's Safari Club Restaurant & Lounge. The hotel is slightly rundown (perhaps just
the pet-friendly rooms), but the location is ideal.
Some of the more budget-friendly options in town include the recently remodeled Paint-
brush Inn (605 S. 6th St., 307/864-3155, www.paintbrushinn.com , $49-59), which features
basic air-conditioned ground-floor rooms with Wi-Fi and kitchenettes; and the very com-
fortable and homey Elk Antler Inn (501 Hwy. 20, 307/864-2325, www.elkantlerinn.com ,
$40-110), with two and three-bed suites and two-bedroom suites. There is also a nice Super
8 (166 S. Hwy. 20, 307/864-5515, www.super8.com , $90-209) in town.
CAMPING
While there is no camping permitted in the most desirable of spots—Hot Springs State
Park—there are a few RV parks in Thermopolis that allow tent camping as well. The Foun-
tain of Youth RV Park (250 U.S. 20 N., 307/864-3265, www.fountainofyouthrvpark.com )
is open year-round and offers RV sites (from $35), tent sites (from $25), a cabin and a guest
house ($135 for up to 4 people), and a bunkhouse (from $45 for 2 people). There is also a
large hot springs pool on-site, laundry facilities, and free Wi-Fi.
