Festivals and Events
Weekly events in Jackson during the summer season (Memorial Day-Labor Day) include
the Jackson Rodeo (447 Snow King Ave., 307/733-7927, www.thejacksonholerodeo.com ,
8pm Wed. and Sat. June and Sept., 8pm Wed., Fri., and Sat. July-Aug., $15-35), a fun fam-
ily event with bull riding, team roping, barrel racing, bareback broncs, and plenty of other
action. Food and refreshments are sold at the chuck wagon.
For one of Jackson's favorite regular events, check out the Town Square Shootout (6pm
Mon.-Sat.) on the Town Square. It's free and a lot of fun for visitors.
An annual event built around the well-known Boy Scout Elk Antler Auction, where
the boys sell the shed antlers they collect from the National Elk Refuge, Elk Fest (307/
733-3316, www.elkfest.org ) takes place the weekend before Memorial Day and includes
plenty of food, community concerts, children's activities, and many opportunities to learn
about elk.
Happening each year over Memorial Day weekend all around town is Jackson's long-
running Old West Days (307/733-3316, www.jacksonholechamber.com ) , which features a
horse-drawn parade, old-town entertainment, a rodeo, a mountain man rendezvous, and a
host of other events that celebrate Jackson's rough-and-tumble origins.
Happening in late July-early August, the nearly weeklong Teton County Fair (Teton
County Fairgrounds, 307/733-5289, www.tetoncountyfair.com ) includes family-friendly
events like pig wrestling, a rodeo, a demolition derby, concerts, a carnival, and plenty of
agricultural and animal exhibits.
The equivalent of Cody's Rendezvous Royale, Jackson's Fall Arts Festival (307/
733-3316, www.jacksonholechamber.com ) is a 10-day event in mid-September that unites
the community and attracts a crowd of art lovers with a phenomenal range of art-related
events, including the prestigious Jackson Hole Art Auction
( www.jacksonholeartauction.com ) and Western Design Conference
( www.westerndesignconference.com ) , gallery walks, open-air art fairs, historic ranch tours,
and culinary coups.
The Grand Teton Music Festival (McCollister Dr., Teton Village, 307/733-1128,
www.gtmf.org , $20-50) takes place annually during July-August. It is held in the all-
wooden Walk Festival Hall, which recently underwent a $4.85 million renovation to im-
prove the intimate setting and provide top-notch acoustics. Known as one of the top clas-
sical music festivals in the country, it showcases an impressive list of musicians and sing-
ers. Running annually since 1962, past performers include Sarah Chang, Itzhak Perlman,
