In-Depth Information
Elk are plentiful in winter at the National Elk Refuge.
Teton Village
Twelve miles northwest of Jackson is Teton Village, an Alps-like enclave nestled around
the state's largest and most popular ski hill. The area pulses with energy and activity as soon
as the snow flies, and although it quiets down in the shoulder seasons, it is an enormously
popular destination in summer as well. In addition to the abundant lodging, shopping, and
dining options, the area is a hub for outdoor activities such as hot air ballooning, paraglid-
ing, horseback riding, and, of course, a myriad of mountain-oriented sports. There are also
plenty of concerts and special events held year-round.
