Boating and Fishing
On the shores of Jackson Lake, by far the largest body of water in the park, Colter Bay and
the Colter Bay Village Marina (307/543-2811 or 800/628-9988, www.gtlc.com ) are excel-
lent launching points for a variety of boating expeditions. From the marina, you can arrange
cruises, canoe or kayak excursions, motorboat rentals, and guided fishing trips.
Guided fly-fishing tours can be arranged through the marina as well. Guided Jackson
Lake fishing (307/543-3174, ext. 1097) starts at $88 per hour for 1-2 people with a two-
hour minimum and $18 per additional person. Guided fly-fishing trips (307/690-4664) start
at $525 for 1-2 people.
MM Cruise to Elk Island
Since nothing builds an appetite like time spent on an alpine lake, there are wonderful
breakfast cruises and dinner cruises (307/543-2811, www.gtlc.com ) departing from the
marina that whisk guests across the lake to Elk Island, in the shadow of Mount Moran.
Each cruise takes approximately three hours, and departure times change as daylight hours
lengthen and shorten. The breakfast cruise ($38.50 adults, $22 children 3-11), offered daily
except Friday, serves hearty fare with eggs and trout, pancakes, pastries, fresh fruit, and the
all-important cowboy coffee. The dinner cruise ($59.50 adults, $37 children 3-11) is offered
Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday evenings and includes such delectable mountain
fare as steak and trout, baked beans, corn on the cob, a salad bar, and mouthwatering fruit
cobbler. Scenic Lake cruises ($30 adults, $13 children 3-11), which last about 90 minutes,
depart daily at 10:15am, 1:15pm, 3:15pm, and 6:15pm.
