view of the lake, good service, and a nice variety of American cuisine. Breakfast is buffet
($12.50 adults, $6.25 children) or you can opt to order the standard fare à la carte ($7-10).
Lunch and dinner have a lot more originality in the dishes, including a Montana ranch natur-
al burger, bison meatloaf, trout three ways, or grilled vegetable cannelloni. Reservations are
required for dinner The Lake House at Grant Village (breakfast and dinner daily late May-
late Sept., hours vary, $9-14) sits right on the lake and is a low-key casual option. Breakfast
($12.50 adults, $6.25 children) is buffet only, and the dinner menu consists mostly of sand-
wiches and burgers.
The M Lake Yellowstone Hotel Dining Room (866/439-7375, 6:30am-10am,
11:30am-2:30pm, and 5pm-10pm daily mid-May-late Sept., reservations required for din-
ner, breakfast buffet $14.50 adults, $6.25 children, entrées $6-11.25, lunch $7-14, dinner
$13-33) is the most elegant dining room in the park, with a gorgeous view of the lake as you
dine on a scrumptious meal. The restaurant is committed to creating dishes with fresh, local,
organic, and sustainable ingredients. Lunch is a good way to sample some of the gourmet
fare without putting too large a dent in your pocketbook. They have a delicious organic len-
til soup, or try the lobster ravioli. Dinner at the hotel is sure to be a memorable experience.
One of the most interesting dishes on the menu is the Montana Trout Culture Napoleon.
Directly inside the hotel is the Lake Hotel Deli (9:30am-10pm daily mid-May-late Sept.),
which serves a nice selection of soups, salads, and sandwiches.
The Old Faithful Inn Dining Room (866/439-7375, 6:30am-10am, 11:30am-2:30pm,
and 5pm-10pm daily early May-mid-Oct., breakfast buffet $12.50 adults, $6.25 children,
entrées $6-10, dinner $16-29) offers a buffet for each of the main meals daily as well as an à
la carte menu. You can dine in the historic inn while enjoying its distinct rustic architecture
and Western-style ambience. Lunch ($14.75 adults, $7.50 children, entrées $8.95-16) is a
“Western buffet” with items such as farm-raised pan-fried trout, a chopped barbecue chick-
en sandwich, and bison chili. If you don't opt for the dinner buffet ($27.25 adults, $10.95
children), featuring prime rib and trout, you could try their smoked bison and pheasant and
chicken sausage, or grilled quail. Reservations are required for dinner. The Bear Paw Deli
(6am-9pm daily early May-mid-Oct., summer hours vary), located in the inn, is perfect for
