Springs Hotel) open during the winter season in Yellowstone.
Grant Village is about 20 miles southeast of Old Faithful on the West Thumb of Yel-
lowstone Lake. Although the accommodations do not have the same rustic feel or character
of the other lodges, they do offer a comfortable and modern place to stay away from the
crowds. The complex is made up of six small condo-like buildings. Each building has 50
nicely furnished hotel rooms that come with either two double beds or one queen and full
baths.
Reservations for all hotels inside the park should be made through Xanterra Parks
and Resorts (307/344-7311 or 866/439-7375, www.xanterra.com ). Nature is the draw here:
There are no televisions, radios, air-conditioning, or Internet connections.
CAMPING
Five of the 12 campsites in the park are located in this southern region: Bridge Bay
(between West Thumb and Lake, late May-early Sept., flush toilets, $21/night), Fishing
Bridge RV Park (at Fishing Bridge north of Lake Village, late May-late Sept., the only
campground offering water and sewer, with flush toilets and pay showers, for hard-sided
vehicles only, $46.50/night), Grant Village (at Grant Village south of West Thumb, late
June-early Oct., flush toilets, $25.50/night), Lewis Lake (at Lewis Lake south of Grant
Village, mid-June-early Nov., vault toilets, $15/night), and Madison (at Madison Junction
between the west entrance and Old Faithful, early May-late Oct., flush toilets, $21/night).

344-7901) can be made at Bridge Bay, Fishing Bridge RV Park, Grant Village, and Madis-
on.
FOOD
As the southern loop is generally the most heavily traveled section of the park, there are
plenty of dining opportunities. You may want to stop for a quick bite between eruptions
at the Old Faithful Lodge cafeteria, pick up a salad or soup to go at the Bear Paw Deli in
the Old Faithful Inn, or unwind with a leisurely meal at the upscale restaurant in the Lake
Hotel. In the park restaurants, breakfast and lunch are on a first come, first served basis, but
reservations are strongly recommended for dinner, particularly if 5pm or 9pm are not your
ideal dining hours. In almost all the venues, you will find some good vegetarian options
and many items made with sustainable or organic ingredients; these are identified on each
