JEFFERSON RIVER VALLEY
The Beaverhead, Big Hole, and Ruby Rivers come together at Twin Bridges to form the Jef-
ferson River, which flows 77 miles through dry, scrubby, and relatively untouched country
before flowing into the Missouri alongside the Madison and Gallatin Rivers at Three Forks.
Along the way are small, nondescript towns like Whitehall, Cardwell, LaHood, and the
tiny but charming Willow Creek. Much of the valley looks the same as it did when Lewis
and Clark made their way through it more than 200 years ago.
