Nestled between the Ruby and Tobacco Root mountain ranges, the Ruby River Valley is
lush and fertile, and known for its fishing and bird hunting. Among the small but scenic
hamlets in this valley are
Silver Star, Twin Bridges, Sheridan,
and
Alder.
Between
Sheridan and Alder is
Robber's Roost,
a notorious hangout for thieving road agents in the
gold rush era. The landmark hideout cabin is marked by a roadside sign and can be toured
in a matter of minutes.
