ACCOMMODATIONS
Kalispell is definitely the best place to find an assortment of more budget-friendly chain
hotels and motels, but prices can rise when the town is packed with travelers en route to or
from Glacier or Flathead. Next to the airport, the Aero Inn (1830 U.S. 93 S., 800/843-6114,
www.aeroinn.com , $40-56 s, $49-103 d) has 61 no-frills guest rooms and is reasonably
priced. Another good value can be found at the 106-room pet-friendly Blue & White Motel
(640 E. Idaho St., 406/755-4311 or 800/382-3577, www.blu-white.com , $43-90), which, in
addition to cool neon signage, has decent rooms, standard amenities, and a 24-hour restaur-
ant next door (making it a favorite with truckers). Among the larger chain hotels and mo-
tels are America's Best Value (1550 Hwy. 93 N., 406/756-3222, www.abvkalispell.com ,
$70-145); Best Western Plus Flathead Lake Inn and Suites (4824 Hwy. 93 S., 406/
857-2400 or 888/226-1003, www.bestwestern.com , $95-230); Econo Lodge of Kalispell
(1680 Hwy. 93 S., 406/752-3467 or 800/843-7301, www.econolodge.com , $109-169);
Hampton Inn Kalispell (1140 Hwy. 2 W., 406/755-7900 or 800/426-7866,
www.hamptoninnkalispell.com , $109-299); the fairly glamorous for these parts Hilton
Garden Inn (1840 Hwy. 93 S., 406/756-4500, www.kalispellhgi.com , $98-239); Holiday
Inn Express (275 Treeline Rd., 406/755-7405, www.impressguest.com , $160-239); Kal-
ispell Super 8 (1341 1st Ave. E., 406/755-1888 or 800/800-8000, www.super8.com ,
$60-115); and La Quinta Inn & Suites (255 Montclair Dr., 406/257-5255 or 800/
753-3757, www.lq.com , $99-234).
For a more historic experience, try the pet-friendly Kalispell Grand Hotel (100 Main
St., 406/755-8100 or 800/858-7422, www.kalispellgrand.com , $82-150) downtown. This
stately brick property is the last of eight hotels that once lined downtown. Less historic but
always reliable and pet-friendly, the Red Lion Hotel (20 N. Main St., 406/751-5050 or 800/
733-5466, www.redlion.com , $109-209) is conveniently located in the heart of downtown.
Given its proximity to Big Mountain, Whitefish Lake, and Glacier National Park, it's
no surprise that Whitefish has an abundance of accommodations—but true to its resort-
town vibe, beds don't come cheap. The largest and most diverse, without a doubt, is the
Whitefish Mountain Resort (3840 Big Mountain Rd., 406/862-2900 or 877/754-3474,
www.skiwhitefish.com , $90-1,500), the resort community around Big Mountain with eight
different lodging options, 90 percent of which are condominiums that range from modest
guest rooms in the Hibernation House to palatial five-bedroom townhouses. Rates are gen-
