commodate up to 10 people. RV sites are also available as are boat rentals. Seeley Lake
Motor Lodge (Hwy. 83, mile marker 14.5, 406/677-2335 or 800/237-9978,
www.seeleylakemotorlodge.com , from $70) is what good roadside motels used to be: com-
fortable, clean, and convenient.
In Swan Lake, there are a handful of lodging options, including the isolated and lovely
Swan Mountain Ranch (26356 Soup Creek Rd., on Hwy. 83 between mile markers 64 and
65, 406/886-3900 or 800/919-4416, www.swanmountainranch.com ) , which offers both do-
it-yourself cabin rentals ($300-375) and bed-and-breakfast packages ($233, discounts for
multiple rooms). It is a cross-country ski resort in winter and offers guided hunting trips in
fall. Dog and horse boarding is available too.
By far the fanciest and most luxurious spot in the region is the exclusive Holland Lake
Lodge (1947 Holland Lake Rd., Condon, 406/754-2282, www.hollandlakelodge.com , cab-
ins $155 pp d, $85/additional person, $55 children, lodge rooms $135 pp d or $185 s),
where the rates include phenomenal meals. The activities at this lakefront idyll include
hiking, canoeing, horseback riding, swimming, fishing float trips, and float plane ex-
cursions. The Laughing Horse Lodge (71284 Hwy. 83, Swan Lake, 406/886-2080,
www.laughinghorselodge.com , May-Dec., $105-165) is a cozy and fun bed-and-breakfast
where pets are welcome and the activity menu is unlimited.
CAMPING
With so much public forest and wilderness in the vicinity, the multitude of camping options
in the area attract large numbers of campers on summer weekends. Placid Lake State Park
(406/542-5500, $12) has 40 sites, flush toilets, and drinking water; it is three miles south of
Seeley Lake on Highway 83, then three miles west on a county road. Salmon Lake State
Park (Hwy. 83, 5 miles south of Seeley Lake, 406/677-6804, May 1-Nov. 30, $13-15) is
another of the better options.
