are permitted into the site—takes visitors through bison kill areas and campsite deposits,
some of which are 20 feet deep.
Festivals and Events
The biggest event of the year by far in the Havre area is the
Rocky Boy Pow Wow and
Rodeo
in Box Elder, usually held around the first weekend in August. The four-day event
includes a rodeo, a dance, and costume and drumming competitions for more than $100,000
in prize money. There are cultural demonstrations, grand entries twice daily, and plenty of

Winter visitors to Havre, hardy souls indeed, should do whatever they can to ski at
Bear
Paw Ski Bowl

Hill,” Bear Paw is an old-fashioned ski area with two lifts, excellent advanced terrain, and
an entirely volunteer staff. There are no rentals available, so pick skis up in Havre at

only on weekends, but it's a day of skiing with a side of nostalgia that you will never forget.

Havre has a plentiful assortment of hotels and motels, and surprisingly they are often
fully booked with business travelers, so advance reservations are a good idea. On the

In the center of downtown,
El Toro

gain in an excellent location. The Spanish architecture is unexpected, but the rooms are ba-
sic and nice.
