Accommodations
Just south of town, the Cattle King Motor Inn (Hwy. 13 S., 406/487-5332,
www.cattlekinginn.com , $75-100) offers clean, comfortable rooms, free Wi-Fi, free contin-
ental breakfast, and free guest laundry. Pets are welcome with a $5 fee, and outside kennels
are available too. Outside electric outlets are available to plug in your engine block during
winter so that the car starts in the morning. No one said the winters were mild this far north.
Food
As you pull into town from the east, you'll encounter Shu's Kitchen (506 E. 1st St., 406/
487-5347), a wonderful little place for surprisingly authentic Chinese cuisine. Owner Shu
Mei Swenson has been known to select your meal for you; the wise will oblige and will
not be sorry. Hours here aren't set, so you may have to take your chances and drive by. On
the other side of town, Burger Hut (Hwy. 13 between 1st Ave. and Railroad Ave., 406/
487-5030) is a summer-only establishment with classic curb service and a menu that puts
