Just the Facts
Entry Requirements: US and Canadian visitors must show a
passport or a birth certificate and photo ID as well as an on-
ward or return ticket.
Getting Around: Taxi travel is the most common means of
transportation, especially for couples not comfortable with driv-
ing on the left side of the road. Taxi fares from the St. John's
area to Nelson Dockyard on the far side of the island run about
US $50 round trip.
Rental cars are available; a temporary Antiguan driver's li-
cense is required. We found that some roads are a little bumpy,
and that a full tank of gas (as well as a spare tire) is recom-
mended for visitors traveling away from the major destina-
tions.
