In-Depth Information
A unique item is the “St. Croix Hook,” developed by
Sonya's Ltd. (No. 1 Company Street). While we were se-
lecting a bracelet, the clerk at Sonya's told us that “the
Hook” is very popular among divers of both sexes. The
bracelet features a simple hook clasp that gives a clue
to the wearer's romantic status: if the hook is pointed
down, it signifies the wearer is single, pointed up and
turned toward the heart, it symbolizes attachment.
For those looking to bring back a taste of St. Croix, Cruzan
Rum is sold throughout the island, as is Chococo, a chocolate
and coconut liqueur made in St. Croix.
Nightlife
Nightlife is pretty quiet in St. Croix, but there are some new ad-
ditions on the scene. The Divi Carina Bay Resort and Ca-
sino is home to the USVI's first casino,

square-foot casino has 300 slot machines and 13 gaming tables.
The Buccaneer has a steel band; call for weekly schedule,

The Hibiscus Beach Hotel offers an unbeatable weekly show
that pulses with the fervor of island dancing and music. Au-
thentic local steps are performed by the Caribbean Dance Com-
pany. The show is available with dinner, or as show only.
Reservations are required for this popular presentation; call
