Although 3½ miles of groomed beach (plus another six miles of
nearly deserted beach) tempt vacationers to soak up sun and
sometimes rolling surf, the sports facilities offer plenty of op-
portunities to stay busy. The Palmas del Mar Golf Club features
a championship course designed by Gary Player, with holes of-
fering views of El Yunque rain forest, the sea, and the nearby is-
land of Vieques. The largest tennis center in the Caribbean has

The Hyatt Cerromar is for couples looking to combine the glitz
of San Juan with the peacefulness of the Puerto Rico country-
side. Located 22 miles from the city, this high-rise resort has
just about everything lovers could want, from luxurious mas-
sages to floating in what the hotel calls the world's longest
swimming pool.
The hotel works in close conjunction with its sister property, the
nearby Hyatt Dorado. The two resorts share 1,000 acres west of
