The atmosphere at nearby Sandals Royal Caribbean is slightly
less lively than its neighbor, Sandals Montego Bay. What it may
lack in liveliness, it more than makes up for in lavishness.
Small touches - cool towels on the beach, herbal teas in the
gym, aromatic saunas, continental room service - make this re-
sort styled after a Jamaican plantation truly royal.

S andals Royal boasts the only offshore restaurant in
Jamaica. Bali Hai serves Indonesian cuisine in an au-
thentic atmosphere. Guests are ferried out to the island
(which by day doubles as a nude beach) to enjoy a
multicourse meal served family-style. When the two of
you arrive at the restaurant, the hostess offers two
wraps for you to tie around each other's waist - simul-
taneously. It's a fun start to a romantic evening of din-
ing by candlelight in a setting that's exotic and elegant.

dals chain both because of its very friendly staff and its stylish

This 47-room, 49-villa property is one of the finest in Jamaica
with rooms tucked in private villas (with pools) and a tradi-
tional greathouse. It is on the site of a former sugar plantation.
Don't miss the water wheel (it's right on the road) which is a
